Her father, an architect, decides to move to Mistbrooks, Massachusetts to renovate the ancient Twiststaff Manor. Karen and her siblings, Donnie, and Marley, are creeped out by the house. The house’s owners tell them the story of the Spindlecrafts, the original owners of the house. The siblings decide to use a "spell" that they find in the house to raise the Spindlecrafts. As a great darkness descends, an unlikely group must band together to defend their town and families.
