On track to graduate early from high school, Jaska Byrne is certain he knows where his life is heading until he visits his grandparents in Germany during fall break. His life is changed forever when he witnesses a murder by a strange man in a cloak. The man tracks him down, revealing himself as a Master Necromancer by the name of Vladimir Ragnar. To keep himself and Jaska safe, Mr. Ragnar decides to mark Jaska as his apprentice. Jaska is taken away from everything he knows and loves and forced to train as a necromancer. While Jaska’s family and best friend attempt to adjust to life without him, he learns how to summon ghosts and meditate into the land of the dead, all the while aware that he’s far more powerful than he should be. As his powers grow dangerously fast, a mark appears on his chest that threatens to kill him and destroy everyone he cares about.
