This anthology of Gothic fiction from Caedmon's archives includes nine creepy works read by famous worthies of the stage and screen. David McCallum and Carole Shelley superbly render excerpts from DRACULA. A similarly truncated FRANKENSTEIN gets equally star treatment from James Mason. Vincent Price does his predictable schtick with two complete Poe stories, and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., nicely renders a couple of sea yarns. Disappointing are Anthony Quayle's JECKYLL AND HYDE excerpts, which are merely serviceable, and Ed Begley's blundering HEADLESS HORSEMAN.
