Ruben Leigh is a famed young healer, his patients are unfortunate children, those possessed by ghosts. To the south, Carrack City, the trading capital of the lands, is near deserted through fear. King Casimir has placed a curfew, to save his son from the ghost, all children thirteen years of age are to be sacrificed. Ruben Leigh is summoned to Carrack City and soon discovers there is more to the king's reign of fear. A chance encounter or deception brings Ruben Leigh to Sir Demo, a retired knight, with a son possessed by a ghost, and a discovery, the knight's maid is Susan, the girl who long ago captured Ruben Leigh's heart. It is for Susan the great healer embarks on a quest to find Babb, her missing sister. Meanwhile, in the Northwest Pine's, at Longcross Castle, Thistle, the Queen Consort of Longcross has a daughter. Princess Alice is possessed by a ghost. The king's knights are dispatched on a quest to find the famed healer, but for Ruben Leigh, Thistle has other plans. She is an enchantress, a creature of hate, war and magic, to enslave the healer is to gain her humanity.
