Would you have what it takes to survive? What about keeping the ones you love alive? What could you push yourself to do? These are things Addie and Reignyn have to figure out when they are left with only their cousin and three children after a worldwide catastrophe. Sanctuary is being offered to them off the coast of California. However, this is an entire state away with no available transportation and things lurking in the daylight. Now, they just have to make it there, on foot. From their middle-class mountain side home they will have to traverse Sin City itself with a trio of kids along with, Oran, their faithful cousin and comrade. Or is he? Oran has his own agenda and wants. Now that the world has changed, he sees this as the perfect opening for his life to change along with it. In a twist on what it means to be human, Mutagenesis is a new look at the choices we make in our lives regarding the people we trust and the people we want to spend our own short forever with. Reignyn and Addie will have to learn to live, or die, with every choice they make. Every person they turn their backs on or extend a trusting hand to will alter their new world in unforeseen ways. Can trying to hold on to past loyalties in the name of family, show them a new way to live or cost them everything?
