Eva thought that working for a master vampire would be more dangerous than it actually is, but being Ludvik's assistant is surprisingly mundane. Sure, she has to do most of her work at night and needs to keep her employer in fresh blood and out of the sun, but at least she has plenty of free time. That all changes one night when she's attacked by a rogue vampire. Although she escapes without injury, Ludvik is concerned about her safety and hires hunky Sav to watch over her. Eva thinks the attack was bad luck and that she doesn't need a bodyguard, but she can't say no.When Sav enters her life she's determined to hate him. After all, how much protection can a mere human be against vampires? But when a secret comes to light and a second attack is made, Eva will be forced to not only rely on Sav, but also to wonder if something more sinister is going on in Sierra Ridge.
