Monster Tree: a paranormal fantasy detective series

I was pretty sure I knew better than to make a deal with a demon in the middle of the night after drinking too much. Especially when he broke into my flat and sat on my bed, not to mention my ceiling. But I did it anyway. What can I say? He said he'd turn me into the best detective in the country. You gotta admit, that's pretty tempting. Then I found out that I could have gone my whole life without ever knowing about the Monster Tree.Detective Jayalakshmi Watson has a problem. She's tired of being a detective and tired of not living up to her father's expectations. She wants to quit, she's about to quit, until a demon calling himself Enj suddenly shows up in her room one night and makes her a deal. The next thing she knows, she's solving the weirdest crimes picked up by the department with a tendency towards grisly murders. The demon's nose for human guilt is leading her directly to the culprit. But surely a deal with a creature from the Underworld isn't all accolades and pats on the back, right?Monster Tree contains the first two episodes of Jaya's adventures with her demonic partner, solving weird crimes that may or may not be connected to the Monster Tree.
