Cajú

Cajú is a gripping, spiritual novel in which JH Cové shows how a strong love-crossing borders beyond life itself-can conquer the evil enchantments of a powerful and dangerous sorcerer. When Anna Bloem, a young woman from Amsterdam, discovers she has a half-brother living in Brazil, she immediately departs on a quest. Her search leads her to the dunes of Ceará, where she loses her heart to Orois, and comes under the influence of a she-male shaman and medium, Marcela. Anna gets entangled in the dark world of the Candomblé cult, and her spiritual convictions begin to crumble. When her father's illness calls Anna back to Amsterdam, her relationship with Orois is severely tested. Upon returning to Brazil, she finds the world she had known has disintegrated. Anna must risk her life, and use all her strength of will to undo the evil that has worked against them and shrouded her love for Orois.
