Blood Red Rose and Other Tales of Stefan Dracula

The real life Vlad Tepes, Prince of Wallachia was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. In this series of stories, Vlad's brother is the hero. Radu/Stefan/Virgil is a very different type of vampire from his brother. While Vlad is drawn to the young and healthy, Stefan is attracted to the weak and desperate. While Vlad steals his victim's life force, Stefan feeds or their sickness and death, and, in the process, restores them to life and health. The settings of these stories range from the Thirty Years War to Georgian England to the near Future. In these tales, Stefan encounters smugglers in Cornwall, Turkish Janissaries, double dealing Hungarians, 19th Century vampire slayers, pre-Civil War lynch mobs, modern mobsters and deals with the threat they pose in his own special nonviolent way.
