At the end of a covert mission to suppress an ongoing Orcish Rebellion, Betrard Falen, an honorable and beloved general of the Kingdom of Alvyond, is murdered by his trusted lieutenant, Ia Balam. Just as Falen is lying dead, one of the Seven Daemons, Laab the Trickster, resurrects the betrayed hero and, in return, asks him to become his champion, a worshipper-at-war who will have to kill and make fame all in the name of the Daemon. Meanwhile, Balam returns to the Kingdom to take everything Falen has worked for--the fame, the riches, and even the marriage with the Crown Princess--while spreading false rumors that Falen himself was a treasoner to the Kingdom and a liason to the Rebellion, thus deserving rightful death. Thanks to the Daemon Laab, Falen further learns that the King, who has long envied Falen's popularity with the people, personally planned and ordered the assassination through Balam. Enraged and agonized, Falen accepts Laab's proposal and becomes his cursed champion to live once again and seek revenge against not just those involved in his death but the entire Kingdom that readily deserted and dishonored him. Now named Ryzen Venger, the fallen hero sets out on a journey to fell the kingdom beneath his feet, but not before he enjoys his newly gained freedom and demonic power at mindless debauchery, wanton sex, and murders for pleasure.
