Savannah police respond to a burglary in a blood bank and find a man naked except for the blood covering him from head to foot. Vanishing from a locked jail cell, his fingerprints are linked to a murder fifty years old, where a body was drained of blood. Days later they capture him standing over a young boy’s body, the victim’s blood smeared over the man’s nude body. The man is one of a race called “The Chosen” whose existence is a closely guarded secret. He reveals also that every 25 years they must ‘refreshen’ themselves by bathing in human blood. The blood serves as a catalyst and, within days, they grow young again, a veritable Fountain of Youth. Police captain Jim Underwood must fight an invisible army as the Chosen begin eliminating everyone who knows of their existence.
