Having appeared in a number of long running TV series and plays including The Villains (1964), the Adam Faith television series Budgie (1971), the supernatural television series What's Next? (1974) and for eight years he played PC Fred Render in the successful police drama Z-Cars. More recently he has appeared in EastEnders, Emmerdale and Last Of The Summer Wine. Stone is his first full length novel and his second is nearing completion.
