Sand & Glass

The stuff of dreams mingles with the fabric of reality when in a dream Braxton Kinderling finds young Monica on an island where she’s marooned, hunted everyday and is losing hope of ever escaping. Braxton awakens to find deadly shadow hunters have followed him back to our world seeking to kill the waking version of Monica.Braxton concludes he’s had a vivid dream until he discovers beach sand in his bed. His memory of Monica is vibrant but attempts to dream of the island again don’t work until he holds the sand in his hand as he sleeps. Braxton arrives at the island again and learns of a graver danger affecting us all in our dreaming moments, giving a new meaning to the phrase; “…died in their sleep.”

From the Inside Flap

"For so long...and here by yourself?""Mostly," she managed, still staring into the jungle, "yes.""I want to know more about that. What do you mean by "mostly"? Are there times when you aren't alone...you...you have visitors?"Braxton had listened quite hard as she answered because he was "mostly" afraid of being on the island away from all he knew for a very long time."Visitors? Sometimes I see people. It's gotten to the point where if I notice them and they're far away, I don't even run after them. Once in awhile I get a chance to talk with them or even get to know them a little but they don't stay for very long. No one ever stays. Sometimes it's just not worth the trouble if you know what I mean."-Sand & Glass

From the Back Cover

"They're in the shape of people but are all dark...like the silhouette of a person or a black cardboard cut-out, the darkened form of someone as if they were standing in front of the moon as it's rising. They're cunning like a jungle cat and they hunt you like one too." Monica moved closer and lowered her voice as she described these shadows. She sent a brief look over her shoulder that made Braxton's spine grow cold."

About the Author

I'm a writer and an author and a life long psychotherapist and worked my way through school teaching drum and guitar and playing in bars, clubs, weddings and dances. I'm glad you've stopped by.  "I started telling stories publicly as a survival tactic when I would substitute teach. I would introduce myself to the class and shift into a story before they knew it. I'd stop at a crucial spot and they'd protest to which I'd say, "Get your work done and I'll finish it at the end of the hour." Classroom management!"-R G Ailes
