Eerie Archives Volume 1

Slithering upon the heels of Dark Horse's archive collections of the seminal horror comics magazine Creepy comes its terror-filled cousin publication Eerie! Collected for fans for the first time ever, and packaged in the same amazing oversized format as the Creepy Archives, Dark Horse Comics has taken great, gruesome care in presenting this groundbreaking material to readers who have been waiting decades to get their claws on it. Eerie magazine, like its killer kin Creepy, features work from many of the masters of comics storytelling. For fans of spectacular spookiness, mind-bending sci-fi, and astonishing artwork, the Eerie Archives library is a must have!

From Booklist

The 1964 launching of Creepy, a black-and-white comics magazine that emulated the classic EC horror comics of the previous decade, was so successful that shortly afterward publisher Jim Warren started a companion publication, Eerie. The two magazines were entirely interchangeable, the only difference being that the imitation of EC’s iconic Crypt-Keeper who introduced the stories was Cousin Eerie rather than Uncle Creepy. Eerie boasted the same top-notch writers and artists. The first five issues, gathered in this volume, feature such stellar talents as Steve Ditko, Alex Toth, Gene Colan, and EC veterans Wally Wood, Al Williamson, and Reed Crandall. --Gordon Flagg
