This Eerie Comics #1, dated January 1947, was published by Avon. This was the only Eerie Comic published until 1951 when Avon published another Eerie #1, cover dated May/June 1951. It then continued a run of seventeen issues. This January 1947 issue of Eerie Comics is the first out-and-out horror comic book and is credited with establishing the genre of horror comics.
