Sacrificing Virgins

Tales beyond the darkness! If you could bring your daughter back from the dead...should you? If you could forget the worst event in your life...would you? In this collection of twenty-five dark tales from Bram Stoker Award-winning author John Everson, you'll meet a host of provocative characters. Learn the secrets of the man whose pumpkin carvings look strangely, disturbingly real. Visit a small town where the tavern game isn't about shots, but sharks. Meet the woman who finds an ancient sex toy-and a salacious spirit-entombed beneath her garden. From quiet tales of ghosts and cemeteries to extreme tales of erotic horror, Sacrificing Virgins will take you to the bleeding edge...and beyond.

From the Back Cover

PRAISE FOR JOHN EVERSON'S WORK: "From the opening story, Everson proves himself capable of horror, both understated and overt, and of capturing readers' imaginations with his compelling characters and unique twists on familiar themes. Each story is strengthened by vivid descriptions, but it is his ability to create characters with whom readers can identify that makes them all the more powerful. Included in this collection are not only ghosts and supernatural monsters, but also fiends of the human variety, victims of their own desires, and what comes across as a fable or two."- The Horror Channel, on Vigilantes of Love "Needles and Sins is a barnburner, the kind of book of horror shorts that will keep you up at night munching on chips and finishing just one more story the same way EverCrack had you finishing just one more quest."- Popcorn for Breakfast "Violet Eyes is old-school horror in collision with bleeding-edge science fiction. This is Michael Crichton meets Stephen King. It's a killer!" -Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of Fire & Ash "John Everson has to be congratulated for having the courage of his nightmares. Not every writer would be able to convert his most freakish and kinkiest imaginings into neatly plotted narratives as Everson does here."- Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine on Cage of Bones & Other Deadly Obsessions "John Everson delivers the one-two punch of emotional intensity and skilled storytelling."-Scott Nicholson, author of Liquid Fear "A master of twisted imagery, Everson doesn't shy away from graphic gore: NightWhere is an erotic horrorfest you won't be able to put down!" -Lucy Taylor, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The Safety of Unknown Cities

About the Author

John Everson is the Bram Stoker Award-winning author of the novels Covenant, Sacrifice, The 13th, Siren, NightWhere and more. His short fiction has appeared in dozens of magazines and anthologies and collected in the books Cage of Bones & Other Deadly Obsessions, Vigilantes of Love, Needles & Sins and Sacrificing Virgins. He shares a deep purple den in Naperville, Illinois with a cockatoo and cockatiel, a disparate collection of skulls, twisted skeletal fairies, and a large stuffed Eeyore. There's also a mounted Chinese fowling spider named Stoker, an ever-growing shelf of custom mix CDs and an acoustic guitar that he can't really play but that his son likes to hear him beat on anyway. Sometimes his wife is surprised to find him shuffling through more public areas of the house, but it's usually only to brew another cup of coffee or restock a pint of Newcastle.
