I, Exorcist: A Novella

Patricia Lundrum has worn many faces in her twenty-eight years on earth. Daughter, student, postulant, nun, ex-nun... Through it all she has struggled, struggled more than most young women because of her secret. Patricia has what some would call a gift, but what she herself calls a curse. She is clairvoyant. Her abilities, in fact, are what brought the Catholic Church to induct Patricia into the Minor Order of Exorcists during her time as a nun, making her the first woman to ever receive the honor. An honor that was taken back away from her after she broke her sisterly vows once too often and was stripped of her habit. Now, broke and alone, Patricia purges demons from homes and people for a fee, in secret, and against the Church's wishes. It isn't easy, but it's a living. That is, until Patricia comes across a particularly strong entity residing in a young boy whom even the Holy Church has deemed a lost cause. Patricia soon discovers she is in over her head, and even her powerful abilities may not be enough to see her through this task. The church will offer no help, and time is of the essence. If she fails, the possessed boy will die. If she succeeds, it may mean her own life instead.
