In 1937 Eloise Marshall takes a position as an assistant in the labyrinth mansion, Brumley House. Placed in her own wing, she is told to not enter the end room, but an apparition of a small boy raises questions about what happened there. She believes he is the ghost of the heiress's son but other restless spirits point her in another direction. After befriending a crime scene photographer, she realizes he is there to help his policeman brother track down a killer on the move.While the three of them try to piece together Brumley’s sordid past, they must also hasten to solve the mystery in time to cease the murders now.
