The Swanhawk (St. Ives Trilogy)

Gillian Johnson takes a much needed break from ballet, and travels to the village of St. Ives in Southwestern England. Everyone she meets thinks she is a hedonistic folk singer named Zoe Shepherd pulling some outrageous prank. Gillian begins to have memories that are not hers, and thoughts that don’t make sense. Zoe appears the same day as Gillian’s abrupt departure, and cannot understand why all her artist friends are suspicious. A bizarre mystery begins to unfold when Sinclair, a physicist, and self-styled Druid, formulates a theory that explains the connection between the two women. This haunting tale weaves Druid folklore, quantum physics. and romance into a curious mystery of nebulous identities, romance, resentment and treachery

About the Author

Alexandra Collard formulated the idea for this book in the early 1970's after hiking the coast of Cornwall alone. When she got to St. Ives, she fell in love with the village and extended her stay there. The journey, folklore of Cornwall, and a book by Charles Williams inspired her to write this story. Alexandra has also been involved in dance most of her life and has danced with three ballet companies. When living in London, she played guitar and was part of a small folk singing group that performed in local pubs. She also spent a summer on the island of Crete in Greece doing research. In addition to dance and theater, Alexandra also worked as a forensic psychologist for 22 years in the State of Virginia. She has lived in San Diego California, New York City, Richmond Virginia and several venues in Europe. Currently, she is retired and lives in Monterey California where she performs in local theater productions and continues to write.
