The Turning Point

“When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can’t eat money. – Alanis Obomsawin, Abenaki Indian/ Odanak Reserve When Charlie, the owner of Carlisle and Jones, saw his young employee after her latest assignment to Northern Uganda was completed, he knew that she needed a break from work. He also knew that Holly would not take the much-needed time off, even though she was drained physically and emotionally. After receiving a call from a family friend requesting help researching the disappearance of his father, Charlie knew it would be the perfect assignment for Holly. Holly Lewis, a young, successful photojournalist, could not believe that her boss was sending her to Maine, of all places. Having traveled the world over, this assignment felt like a punishment. At least it did until she arrived at The Turning Point. Instantly falling in love with the remote cabin tucked away next to a lake surrounded by beautiful mountains, Holly was ready to work. It became very clear that The Turning Point held many secrets and after meeting Ashton Patterson and his faithful dog Willow, Holly wanted to unearth every single one of those secrets. Ashton Patterson was not happy when he found out that Holly Lewis was the one sent to help research his father’s disappearance. He could not fathom what Charlie had been thinking and was more than ready to send her back to New York the day she arrived. It did not take Ashton long to realize that Holly was not only good at her job, but she fit into his life better than anyone ever had.
