Infernal Legacy: Part 1 Earth Bound (Hell's Torment Saga)

The Hell’s Torment Saga chronicles characters adventures through the process of discovering, taking sides and prosecuting spiritual warfare. It is based on the author’s understanding of biblical scriptures. It is not a sermon, or a preachy diatribe cloaked in a fiction wrapper. It is first and foremost a tale of the characters adversities and how they adapt to overcome them. Characters first discover the existence of the spiritual realm through conflict with spiritual forces. If they dare to believe the spiritual realm is equal with their physical existence, they are compelled to take sides. One cannot stand by and watch when they know harm is being done to them. If able to, they will oppose any harm by whatever means are most expeditious. In Hell’s Torment, the most expeditious means is through agency to a higher power. Through conflict with opposition agents, the characters learn to survive by procuring greater technology than their enemies use. Agents begin building their own base of operation to provide the means to overcome their enemies. Their chosen higher power requires certain assurances. There are three alignments in Hell’s Torment. Each is at war with the other two. There are good, neutral, and evil alignments. Most humans, seventy-nine percent are totally oblivious to these factions. The remaining twenty-one percent are divided evenly between the three belief systems. Agents of good, must abide by a code of conduct to receive blessings. Agents of evil must seal the deal with the devil by whatever means is asked of them to receive their boons. Those who chose neutrality must unequivocally and unconditionally detach themselves from all concepts of right, wrong and fairness. Balance is all that matters. Conflict demands strength, the weak and ignorant deserve no concessions. For agents of any alignment, the “79’s” as most people are referred to, represent either a population that needs protecting from the dangers they do not believe exist; or the source of exploitation to be leveraged for maximum profit. The battle ground is primarily low tech or no tech worlds. They do not have the means to identify that they are being taken advantage of. If they do recognize what is happening, they have no ability to call for help. Evil forces seek to gain quick and easy profit by exploiting such worlds on an industrial scale. The agents of each alignment search out such worlds looking for the presence or evidence of the enemy’s occupancy. For some, the duty of watching over the innocent drags on monotonously. For others, the action to thwart those engaged in exploitation is heated and always getting hotter. The level of technology achieved by the indigenous 79’s is the limit of the technology the agents can use publicly. Behind the scenes, in hidden places with concealed and secret access points, the agents enjoy the benefits of all the technology they have accumulated. As the opposing agents fight each other over contested populations, the risk of exposing technology limits their capability in public settings. Innovative strategies and tactics along with adaptive methods and processes often mean the difference between victory and defeat. The greater a character’s capability becomes, the more potent their adversaries. At the highest level of technology, agents can travel to the edge of the ever-expanding light. This growing sphere of light has pushed back the infinite void since the Creator spoke it into existence. In the void beyond are the greatest threats and richest rewards. Hell’s Torment is the light overwhelming the void. The agents of evil find cracks in reality that allow darkness to enter the realms of humankind. In such places their retaliation is vindictive. The battle is fought all around, in the darkness, the shadow, and the light. In the past, present, and future. No victory is permanent, no defeat lasts forever. The seasons and cycles of strife wax and wane but never vanish completely.
