Cayden is the best registered nurse on his hospital floor, but he hates "drug-seekers." One night his favorite patient, a sweet old lady named, Francis, dies on his shift. He blames himself, so when her ghost comes back to visit him from the grave and says she has a favor to ask of him, he is all too willing to comply—that is until he finds out that the favor is to help her granddaughter, Desiree, who is the kind of person he hates most—a drug addict. Desiree has more problems than just her drug addiction. Her six-foot-plus murderous boyfriend, Ray, abuses her regularly and Francis has tasked Cayden with getting her away from the drugs and him. Cayden is all too familiar with addiction and intimate partner violence as he saw his mother go through it all when he was a kid. He thinks the situation is hopeless and he's terrified of Ray, but grudgingly agrees to take up the cause because he feels he owes Francis. Will Cayden overcome his attitude toward drug addicts and find the compassion to invest fully into helping Desiree? Or will his past experiences keep his heart closed toward her? And will Desiree find the strength to take advantage of Cayden's intervention to clean up her life and leave Ray? Or will Ray succeed in keeping Desiree drugged up and under his control forever?
