Ira has always believed himself to be a nobody; at best a screen upon which the colorful lives of others might be displayed. But one day he invents the mathematical trickery which enables him to metaphorically “…see into the stone; into the places where the stone isn’t.” Armed with that esoteric ability, he and his lover, the exotic Rayanne who in past ages would have been burnt as a witch because of the eastern disciplines she practices, and Ira’s best friend in the world, Cain, who has been psychologically transformed into the mental equivalent of a dragon, set out with two old American Indian story tellers to re-discover culturally universal ancient arts and truths. But there may be a good reason why those ancient arts and truths were made to disappear and die with disuse in the past.
