This short story by James Olivieri follows Gerald. Gerald is a former New York executive just released from prison for an unnamed crime which cost him his wife, fortune and status. Reduced to living in one of the last boarding homes on the Bowery, he begins following a mysterious white owl that lands on his window sill. He becomes convinced that the white owl is Glaucus, the companion of the Goddess Athena, and believes it is guiding him to worship the Goddess. In return, he hopes he will be restored to his former station in life. The story takes a dark twist as Gerald learns that his redemption may ultimately lead to his own destruction.
