Javik Carrick is a Knight of the Southern Empire. He served at the end of the century-long civil war, hunted down numerous deranged criminals, and, in a rare turn for a Knight, married a woman of the southern tribes and lives with her people. On a mission with three other Knights to find out why trade routes have been ambushed north of their border, Javik witnesses the falling of a “mountain in the sky.” For the next twenty years, visions of mountain ranges plague his days, nightmares of death haunt him, and the consistent promise from both a man and woman that they will tell him “The truth of humanity” if he finds them, if he finds “The Gate.” After being cleared by the Tribes elders, he ventures out with his mentor, Sewatii, and his lifelong friend, Thrax, to find The Gate. Crestfall: The Sepulchral Gate, follows Javik on his life filled with birth, death, deceit, questions of morality and the constant voice of anxiety and fear in his own head. He crosses paths with elves, dwaves, werewolfs, vampires and other savage creatures. But, the quest to find The Gate may break Javik before he even learns the truth beyond it.
