Onen had a safe and routine life in the village of Goreos, with most days being pretty much the same for over three hundred years. She did her work, she talked to her friends, and she attended the Rituals of the Offering and the Blessing every week. She even aspired to one day lead the Rituals, like the village priest, Neritos. The only snag in her plan was that none of the current priests were human—they were Night Dwellers.Onen had looked up to the ancient and wise race her entire life. After all, they had saved the first generation of humans from the war ravaged nations outside the walls of Goreos. But after the walls are attacked by outsiders, Onen starts to learn things about the Night Dwellers that she had never heard of before—and never would have suspected. Can she still trust the mysterious race that gave her and her people the gift of longevity, or will everything she thought she knew be shattered to the point that she can never go back to her comfortable life?
