They Just Be Killing White Folks (The Mud Creek Horror Book 1)

The horrifying prospect of seeing a moving picture about vampires at the new theater in town on Halloween night in 1930, had seven-year-old 'Lijah more than a little scared. His older brothers who kept telling him the terrible things that the undead creatures could do were used to violence living in a small, rural Central Texas community were black men and boys were regularly lynched. But 'Lijah's father who'd seen the silent film in Houston years earlier assured his youngest son that there were no "colored people" in the film and that the vampires "just be killing white folks." 'Lijah would repeat those words throughout the terror that would strike his family and the community that horrible weekend.
