Anschluss Cransley - Grantchester Hospital

Grantchester Hospital is a sequel to Grantchester Hall - the eponymous haunted Fenland country mansion of Aeschylus ‘Anschluss’ Cransley MP, a Satanist and Fascist sympathizer, who inexplicably vanished when Special Branch officers arrived to arrest him in 1940. The date is now July 5th, 1945, and the hall is a clinic for shell-shocked officers. A historic general election has taken place earlier in the day and the duty staff - a nurse and female doctor,- await the result on their quiet night-shift as the witching hour approaches. A manifestation by Cransley warns them, in his inimitable way, of profound implications for the politics of medicine that the new socialist revolution will bring - paving the way for a future Conservative nudge to the right.
