Wilder is a young woman who has found herself in direct rebellion of her king. While her initial intent is only to put a stopper on his rule, her plans go awry, leaving the king’s dead body on the floor of his study. From here, she must pick up the shattered pieces of what he had created, scrambling to win a war against another realm. While she knows that the people won’t respect her rule, nobody has to know that the king is dead at all. She poses as his servant, delivering her orders in the name of the king. Even with a quick wit and clever advisors, things slip through the cracks, complicating the situation, and when all would seem to have resolved, there’s only another layer of chaos.
