Tary Dickson, a young single mother and witch is drawn into a covert world of sorcery and espionage. As the unwitting holder of a mysterious talisman, she is duped into playing a role in a high stakes game of Chaos.Led by an enigmatic doctor from England, she finds herself tangled in a web of lies and deceit. To make matters worse, Tary is falling in love with this doctor... but can she trust him, or is he just using her for his own ends?THE THEORY They say that over ninety percent of our Universe is composed of dark matter, invisible mass which exerts influence over every bit of matter. It neither reflects not transmits light and so is impossible to perceive with our human senses. This dark matter acts as a net keeping the galaxies in balance. It prevents the stars and their satellites from spinning off into whatever it is that exists outside our own Universe, and counters the pull of the light matter, which we observe as the stars. The theory is that the planets, our Earth included, are all composed of this dark matter. Particles of it are constantly rushing round, even in and through our own bodies. It is, they say, the dust of exploded starsthe result of the Big Bang. Even we are composed of bits of dark matter, proteins and protoplasm, whose molecules and particles will endure as long as the Universe itself in one form or another; star stuff.Perhaps it is the dark side of our spirit which keeps us in balance, keeps us from spinning off into some void beyond ether. I dont know. I understand that we need this other side of us. I also understand that when we become unbalanced, or the world we share becomes unbalanced, everything is threatened. The other kind of matter, the kind that transmits light, is too bright for us to look upon directly. It too exerts its influence over all existing matter, balancing the dark. I think, perhaps, that it is the balance between the two, ninety percent dark and ten percent light, that maintains the order which permits life to exist. I am not a scientist. I am a witch.
