Welcome to Khrem, a vast and ancient city of grim wonder… Cargill the Bookseller has a secret. This quiet dealer in tomes and antiquities was once a career criminal of extraordinary skill. But the risks and narrow escapes of that life took their toll on him, and thus he retired. Now that quiet life has come to an end. An idealistic young Watch Captain has discovered his secret and intends to use Cargill’s experience for his own purposes. Soon Cargill’s life explodes as he finds himself caught between horrific killers, duty-bound Watchmen, and a monstrous god of justice who has his own unspoken agenda. But Cargill is more than he appears, and it isn’t long till he throws the rules out the window and brings his own considerable skills to bear. About the Author

D. Nathan Hilliard writes action/horror and fantasy from his home in Spring, TX. He grew to love the genres through the books of authors like Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, and Terry Pratchett, plus a childhood parked in front of the TV's Saturday Afternoon Matinee. While often commended for his writing in high school and college, adult life came with its own demands and he changed focus to concentrate on making a living and the family he later started. But after being disabled by Charcot Marie Tooth in his mid-40s he rediscovered his affinity to writing and decided to pursue it.Now he writes, keeps house, and raises two incredible kids while crafting his tales to share with the world.
