Roadblock (The Matt Dixon Mysteries Book 6)

A young girl is killed at a demonstration against the construction of a new link road, apparently the result of a tragic accident, but when ex-Detective Inspector Matt Dixon is called in it seems an old friend is about to be charged with her murder. Attempting to clear the young man's name he finds himself, not for the first time, involved in a battle against corruption in the police force, confrontations with dangerous criminals and a feeling that some unseen force is manipulating events for its own purposes. Acutely aware of the new responsibilities imposed on him by his impending fatherhood he finds his desire to uncover the truth clashing with his priority: to keep Jane and their unborn baby safe at all costs. Just when it appears he may have successfully navigated the treacherous waters and come through unscathed he receives a startling reminder of the dark events that led to his resignation from the police force and it looks as though an old adversary may be back, threatening not only him, but also his new family.
