Death of Heaven

Author and reviewer Michael Brookes said of Death of heaven: "The book starts well and has a 'Books of Blood' vibe which really works well. It's in these tales that the author's writing ability shines. He demonstrates a lovely turn of phrase and some of the writing is almost poetic in its beauty." A horrific childhood event. Two broken boys struggle to grow up. One to achieves great and covert things for our country, things that nearly destroy him. The other continues his struggle through adulthood. Finally they come back together to help one another, one more than the other. And then things take a staggering turn into the dark and unbelievable.. Into a massive and macabre reality that questions literally everyone's reality. A reality that will soon enshroud the entire world. British book Reviewer Lynn Worton said: "JZ Murdock has written a horror story that had me completely transfixed! I'm intrigued as to what he is working on next! Although horror is not one my favorite genres, I recommend this book to those who do love it." WILDSound Writing Festival First Chapter review said: "The story itself is very strong, lulling the reader into a false sense of security as two young boys hunt for treasure, before ultimately morphing into a violent and sometimes disturbing tale of horror. This is done with such swiftness that it takes the reader completely by surprise, which only enhances the effect." Enjoy reading, Death of heaven. But perhaps, just perhaps, leave the light on when you go to bed....

WILDSound Writing Festival First Chapter review I can easily see this novel becoming a cult classic in the vein of HP Lovecraft. With its polarizing style, it's fair to anticipate that most readers will either love it or loathe it- there is no in-between. If you enjoy reading avant-garde literature that shatters genres and tropes, this one's for you. - Reader Views

About the Author

JZ Murdock lives and writes from his home in Suquamish, Washington, nine and a half miles across the waters of the Puget Sound from Seattle and home to the grave of Chief "Seattle". Located on several forested acres in the Pacific Northwest's incredibly beautiful Olympic Peninsula, there is definitely something magical about this area that evokes creativity. He lives with his faithful German Shepherd and his two adult offspring also live locally in the Northwest. With a degree in Psychology from Western Washington University and a minor in creative writing including screen and script team writing, some of his writings from back then are contained in his first book, Anthology of Evil. The novella in that book is the basis for his next book, Death of Heaven, a massive story about things not being at all like we believe them to be and the horror that comes sometimes, with learning what is true in the world. During his time working at the University of Washington for just over seven years in computers, some of his work included volunteering with the Psychology department's Martial Research facility which led to his being involved in a BBC documentary. Around that time he became a Viacom Public Access TV producer. Lately he has been concentrating on screenplays and film production, but is regularly putting out short stories in anthologies with other authors. Two of his screenplays have been requested by a London production company. One being a biopic of his first week long gig as a bodyguard at eighteen back in 1974; thus aptly titled, "Teenage Bodyguard". The story details his protecting a murder witness and local strip club waitress from the local mob until she could escape town. After getting involved with Stage32.com a few years ago, he has started working with local director Kelly Hughes on producing his newest horror film.
