Martin Fairchild, a brilliant young chess prodigy with a bright future, is employed as a copy editor for "Caissa Times," an international chess magazine published in La Jolla, California. Despite promising results in local and international chess tournaments, his life begins to unravel as he obsesses over his schizophrenic father's suicide and discovers that he is being stalked by a female vampire.

About the Author

Eric Harrington Woro, born in Oakland, California, is a lifelong author, editor, and English instructor. His novels focus on individual efforts to break free from the fate of family and societal complexes and early conditioning. As a journalist, he worked for four years as managing editor of the regional arts magazine "The Arts Journal" in Asheville, NC. He was books editor for an international publishing company (ICE) in Seattle, WA, and technical editor for Intermec Corporation in Everett, WA. He earned his M.A. in English at the University of Washington and has taught English in small colleges and private language schools all around the world, from Canada and Germany to Russia and Asia. In 2017 he published "How to Teach English in the Middle East" and in 2023 "140 English Dialogues, 480 Idioms" for English language learners. His novels include vampire/thriller narratives and coming-of-age historical fiction.
