A Dark Haunting in St Cloud – The deep black mines of the eastern coal rich mountains of the United States were not always safe places to work. Particularly for the 18,000 men and boys who died between 1877 and 1940 in the ‘coal patches’ of just Pennsylvania alone. The once vibrant small coal towns in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia have become mere shadows of what they once meant to so many American families. But perhaps it would be better for one small town in Pennsylvania, if some shadows did not survive. The human engines who once worked these mines were, for the most part, good hardworking, God fearing family men. But just as in the larger family of man, there was and always will be the vile exceptions whose black hearts ooze with evil that taint their bitter souls for eternity. This story is about two such vile souls that have returned to walk the streets of one of those ‘coal patches’ called St. Cloud, Pennsylvania. Maybe walk is not the right description; according to Officers Thomas Marx and his partner Officer Mary Francis, gliding might be a better description. Ride along with the men and women in blue who bravely deal with crime, deadly car accidents, DUI’s, and for the first time in St. Cloud’s recent history they have to deal with earthquakes… earthquakes that shake up more than the just townies, as they call themselves; now they have to deal with the Paranormal. There is long awaited reunion coming, a dozen decades in the making, and where better for the reunion than the towns historic and lovely old Sanderson Hotel. BTW, if you ever decide to visit the town of St. Cloud, be sure and stop for a drink at the gorgeous old bar on the first floor of the Sanderson. But if you’re staying overnight, it might be wise to avoid room 407... and probably several other locations in the patch as well.
