Computer salesman Lee Thompson wants more out of life, but can’t seem to get ahead. A winning lottery ticket changes everything—or does it? Unbeknownst to all, Detroit has been invaded by aliens. A quick stop at a convenience store brings Lee face to face with one of them, a homeless-looking flower peddler. When Lee learns that his wife had encountered the same “man,” he decides to investigate. Leroy, the store-owner, tells Lee that there’s more to the mysterious stranger than anyone could imagine. When the peddler kills Leroy, Lee joins forces with a police sergeant, a scientist who studies alien life forms, and his younger brother, Martin, to exterminate the aliens. They succeed, but incur many casualties as human victims suffer horrible, brutal deaths (not graphically described). Lee discovers much about himself—that he’s courageous, resourceful, selfless…and that being mega-rich hasn’t changed him at all.
