Tomorrow is Oliver's 16th birthday which, in the treetop colony where he lives, means he is now a man who must take a wife and job. Despite his mother's insistence that he accept this future, he longs to see the world beyond his home. Unfortunately for him she is also the leader of the colony and its ruthless group of warriors knows as the Climbers. Waiting for the cover of night, he slips into the trees undetected to make his escape. Soon after, he is caught by his older sister Val who urges him to return home. After an unexpected turn of events, the siblings are far from familiar territory and caught in a desperate race to escape the dangers that surround them.
