A young woman that recently lost her husband moves to a small town in Missouri, hoping to put the past behind her and start over. In her new home she discovers a journal written by the original owner, detailing the events leading up to her disappearance. She finds herself drawn to the young woman's story who disappeared along with her new born daughter shortly after the birth of her first child. Trying to juggle life in her new home, the new man in her life and her ever increasing desire to determine what happened to the woman and her new born child, she quickly descends into madness, meshing the life of the previous owner with her own. The shocking conclusion of a woman suffering from post partum depression from the past and her ultimate demise leads to a climatic ending that is unexpected.
