Book Two: The Thirteenth Kingdom Cassie searches the Gate for her brother, but is plagued by an idea that she isn’t one person, but two, and after an encounter with the dark magician, Gravefrost, can she control the growing violence in her heart? The Prime Minister tries to reclaim his dream but the powers of the Gate continue to move against him. The sun fails to rise, a murderous anarchist sets London on fire and the sinister binders start to take control. Finally, Dan is forced to flee into the shadows of the criminal underworld, where he looks for help to steal away the device that holds the Gate together.
