Prototype begins in an uncertain future, as Sam McCall, The federations most wanted, is hurtling through space toward Facility Zero, where he will serve out his sentence for crimes against the Federation. Upon arriving at the facility, Sam is given a tour by Alistair Brookes, the architect of the prison. Through a series of flashbacks, each of the characters' backgrounds is revealed to have a dramatic past that has profound implications for the future of the station. Brookes is himself an inadvertent prisoner of the facility, cut off from a wife and young daughters. Brookes invites Sam to security, where he learns that Facility Zero is suspended above a black hole, Finally, Sam encounters Jessica, who is sent to Facility Zero as revenge for her past deeds.As dark forces converge upon the facility, Facility-Zero’s deadly secret might even threaten the Galaxy itself.
