In Bad Faith

On the plains, the leopard’s word is law. The town of Ambazi is the last Iwe settlement in the northern veld. The pale, strange men of the great forest to the north have destroyed and plundered its former neighbors, and for decades have made the conquest of Ambazi their next goal. With no help coming from the Iwe kingdom, the defense of the town falls to a Protector, who swears their life over to the service of the cruel god who roams the veld in the form of a black leopard. Orana Maziwe, wielding the divine power of the black leopard, has repulsed the forest men several times a year for the last ten. But all of that is about to come to an end. Following the death of a sacred leopard at the hands of an Iwe, the black leopard revokes Orana's use of his power, forcing her to face the unthinkable. The forest men, as numerous as the leaves of their forest, will come again, and when they do, Ambazi must be able to defeat them more thoroughly than ever before, all without their greatest weapon. And before Orana can confront the forest men, she must first confront the idea that nothing will ever be the same- and those within Ambazi who seek to exploit that. In Bad Faith is intended as the first book in a five-part series.
