Demons Within

In a small rural Illinois town, people have disappeared for decades. The townsfolk of Follen Illinois attributed the disappearances to natural causes; a man running out on his pregnant girlfriend, an elderly woman with dementia driving away, forgetting where she lived... and a spoiled rich kid leaving his family and fortune behind to start over. The town simply accepted the vanishings and went on with their peaceful, uneventful lives. . Priscilla Van Duyn was haunted by the demons of her past. Being the victim of a sexual assault in high school, she abandoned her dreams of competing in the Olympics and settles for a life of quiet seclusion. After college she takes a job in the small town of Follen Illinois. She instantly falls in love with the country lifestyle and the people accept her as family. . Priscilla’s insatiable curiosity however, leads her to the secluded Conshaw House and a mystery more perplexing than all of the disappearances that have come before. Soon, she is forced to battle more demons; not only those that dwell in her subconscious, but demons of an origin she never suspected. Demons bent on possessing her very essence and using her body for sustenance.

Priscilla Van Duyn was young, pretty, talented ... ...and possessed. She was possessed by the demons of her past. After a violent attack, she had to make a choice. She could either withdraw within herself, or persevere. She chose not to be a victim forever. After college, she moved to a small town. There, she encountered new demons. Demons that would test her strength and will. Demons that would not be content to possess her mind, body and soul; but mindless demons that wanted to consume her essence completely.

About the Author

Alan D. Henson was born in Anderson, Indiana in 1953. His parents came to Indiana from Tennessee seeking work like characters from a Steinbeck novel. He began writing at a young age and continued to write throughout his academic career. His experiences as an emergency room orderly, a prison guard and Union editor gave him unfiltered insights into the stark realities of the world. He is an artist, illustrator, photographer, journalist and award-winning cartoonist. He has been the recipient of the Local Union Press Association's Award for Journalistic Excellence on several occasions. After retiring he wrote his first novel, "Demons Within"; a modern gothic fiction story about small town secrets and mysterious disappearances.
