Hidden Darkness

Hidden in the night, protected from the world. It waited in darkness. Cold wind blew from the north, filling the air with fear. It carried with it a mist that swept through the cracks, slipping past the thick curtains drawn to conceal the secrets inside. Midnight breeze slowly moved the drapes. They drifted back into place for a moment and moved again, higher. Taking in a breath she closed the window. Chills ran down her spine. A light mist filled the room and covered her feet. Despite an impulse to scream, she remained silent. She turned, uncertain of what she might see. The moonlight shined enough through the window to see a figure of a man standing in the corner.He made no attempt to speak. His deep gaze fixed on her. Unsettling, but at the same time it warmed her body. A thought crossed her mind. What if someone open’s her door? “They are asleep. Don’t be afraid?” He said, reading her thoughts.Her heart pounded, pulse racing.Glancing toward the door, hesitating. Silence filled the hallway. She turned back and almost gasped. He was in front of her instantly. She met his eyes, a piercing green glow.Her lips parted to speak. H placed a finger on her mouth. Her pulse quickened. Her nerve endings came to life as if a fire was lit in her veins. Heat rose, touching everywhere.He ran his finger down her bottom lip, down the curve of her chin. He paused at her throat, tracing a light circle. Continuing down to the top of her nightgown. Then both his hands were on her shoulders. She gasped as he slid the strap to her grown over. His lips touched her neck. Her eyes opened, sweat poured down her forehead, heart racing. It was a dream. Elizabeth dreamed of this man for many years. Who is he? Where does he come from? What is he?
