Rosie asked.“See who?” Kay replied.“Them” Rosie was pointing out the window.They all looked and were startled at what they saw. The house was surrounded by a group of men. The men stood shoulder to shoulder with shotguns propped against their legs. Each wore leather boots up to the knee, brown breeches, leather vests, tan shirts, and hats. They looked as if they were a vision through time, visible and solid. The shadow of a tall dark man now stood in the doorway. He wore a long black duster and a dark hat; no face could be seen, just angry green eyes. In a booming voice, the shadow said,“This is my home, and it will always be my home. This is their home as well”. He pointed to the group surrounding the house. “William Dalton had been protecting his family holdings for a long time and would always do so. Now this girl and her kids were on his land snooping around. It did not look as if he could scare them away like the ones before her. How will he keep her from finding the secrets that he has kept hidden for all of these years?
