Matthew is a five-year-old who likes to be told scary stories. In fact, he believes that no story is too scary-until the day his Grandpa offers to tell him the scariest story ever, "The Magic of the Dark Ravine," and even show him the ravine where the story takes place. When Matthew arrives at Grandpa's house, he's so excited that he immediately wants to walk down to the ravine and see for himself just how scary it is. Grandpa warns him though that he must not go beyond the old black fence and he must certainly stay away from the strange black cat. It's a sunny day; the birds are chirping ... what could possibly go wrong? Too bad Matthew hasn't learned to read all the words on the sign that begins: It is forbidden for anybody under six years of age to pass beyond this fence.... Peter Wendling is the author of three other children's books: Caterpillars Never Lie, Matthew Leads the Animal Parade, and Matthew Saves the Circus. He is a retired Toronto lawyer who now lives in Oakville, Ontario. Publisher's website: http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TheMagicOfTheDarkRavine.html
