When twelve-year-old Billy Watts found a jack-in-the-box buried in the woods behind his house, the note attached to it warned him not to open it, saying it was very evil. Giving in to childhood curiosity, Billy opened it. But nothing happened. Or so Billy thought. Now, the children of Joshua Creek are being gruesomely murdered. And Billy begins having nightmares, visited each night by a monster taunting him about the children being killed. And how there will be more. When Billy realizes he has unleashed an evil from the jack-in-the-box, he knows he must stop it. But Billy sees no way possible for a child to stop an evil so powerful and threatening. An evil born from the world of nightmares.
