Fear the Gathuu: A Shadowplaces Tale

Marty Waller awoke in the early hours before dawn to the death-knell of doom. Something terrible had risen in the darkest hours of the night. A dreadful horror that Marty could not even describe was birthed out of the demon-haunted wastelands that surrounded the deserted village of Jepper, where he and his family barely survive. Alone and terrified, Marty and Azelle, his weirding wife, must perform a ritual that would repell the oncoming evil, and hopefully drive it away. However it was a ritual that exploited their grandson's "special talents", and would perhaps even endanger the boy's life. Marty realized the consequences of using Bryant even for something that would save their lives, but there was no time to lose. A choice had to be made, one that would damn Marty one way or another. Fear, indecision and panic clutched onto his very soul with a tightened, steel grip as lightning slashed the black, storm ravaged sky. Out in the darkness the hideous nightmare shapes closed in on the lone dwelling where Marty and his kin awaited their savage and desperate end. Marty then took the knife in his hand and held the blade out towards the boy . . .
