From the Inside Flap
WALKING CARRION I split the skull of the firstcorpse to wrench itself free of the polje. My blade bit through fragile bone,shatt-ering its crown and sending its teeth in all directions. Down throughspine and ribs my sword descended, bisecting the ambulatory collection ofbones. When my blade came free the thing fell away from me, hacked in two. Itstruck the ground with a clatter, scattering its bones across the crackedsurface of the plain. Into its place stepped three more walking heaps ofcarrion.I cutthe legs from the nearest and, as it fell, used my momentum to split the secondfrom shoulder to hip. I adjusted my stance, blade still in motion, and broughtthe third low with a blow to the neck. All three hit the polje in rapidsuccession, breaking to pieces as they fell. Before the bits of these spectralcadavers had skittered to a stop, I charged.
