The Bard's Demons (The Gods and Men Cycle)

Adventure, betrayal, and self-sacrifice fill every song sung in every inn and the prayers said in every chapel. But what of the bards who spin these stories from Illux to Seatown? What happens when the bards become heroes themselves? Tuck is the bard singing for a tavern in the village called Strega, the nearest human settlement to the Great Chasm. Nothing much happens in Strega, and no one in their right mind travels there. Tuck wishes to see some great adventure up close, to write a song that doesn’t just retell history, but to be a part of it. When the bard shares this information with the barkeep Gorman, Gorman promises Tuck that they will have that very chance. Spiriting the bard away in the middle of the night, Gorman takes Tuck to an ancient grove that few mortals have ever walked through. What the bard soon discovers, however, is that being apart of the adventure isn’t what it's cracked up to be.
