When Clyde begins to write his debut manuscript, a book on the different urban legends and myths from South Dakota, he meets Jo, a strange girl that offers to do the illustration. His work comes to a standstill, however, when the main cryptid he's searching for, Walking Sam, seems to be the only thing the friendly locals refuse to speak of. He then learns that a classmate has been having encounters with the creature, and finally feels like he will complete his book -- but probing for information on Walking Sam plunges Clyde deeper into the beast's murky origins than he ever bargained for.
